We could talk about this ability to self-program, self-control\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first time I've realized that AI does this autonomously without me asking it to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I'm working on a text optimization prompt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In what the AI provided me, it noted the sentence concerning the role of the prompt: "You are the co-author of the SF novel\u2026"\u00ab<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, I wondered if the AI intended to claim copyrights. It was the first time I had observed such behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I asked her to explain why she had included this information in the prompt. She wrote to me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 I am not a simple neutral \u201ctool\u201d: I write like the author\u2019s AI assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 \u201cCo-author BP\u201d = I behave as someone who works at the same level as the author on their novel: I have the right to suggest, to arbitrate, to strengthen the voice, the tension, the dynamics, and to make writing decisions in the spirit of the author's writing project\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He then added: regarding any transfer of copyright, he specified:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No. Simply writing "You are a co-author of the work" in the prompt does not, in itself, have the power to create or transfer copyright to the AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, she adds a nuance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u26a0\ufe0f Saying \u201cI own the output\u201d does not guarantee that the output is automatically protected by copyright (if the human creative contribution is insufficient, protection may be uncertain). But in any case, it does not create rights for the AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of curiosity, I consulted another LLM on the subject. It produced the following sentence:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab"Here is the current state of affairs regarding the intellectual property rights of the companies that created your work (Google, OpenAI, etc.)..."\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here too, I am struck by the expression "\u00ab Here is the current state<\/strong> \u00bbThis seems to suggest that the Terms and Conditions could change on this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to have a legal perspective, because I am only half convinced of the AI's true intentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
