Laurent \u2014<\/strong> Indeed, at the end of all ends. But which one are we talking about? The one of theindividual<\/strong> which dilutes into that of the companies<\/strong>, themselves extended by that of thehumanity<\/strong>, and so on.
Robert \u2014<\/strong> Have you ever had the impression... that we're moving forward, that we're turning off, that we're getting agitated - only to end up, despite everything, exactly where we were supposed to be?
Laurent \u2014<\/strong> Yes, of course. It's even a sensation<\/strong> quite tenacious in me. As if, despite our choices, there were anchor points<\/strong> in our lives, kinds of essential milestones<\/strong>.
Robert \u2014<\/strong> You're talking about the fate<\/strong> ?
Laurent \u2014<\/strong> I don't know if that's the right word. It's not a external will<\/strong>, nor a plan drawn<\/strong>. Rather a kind of invisible logic<\/strong>\u2026like a inner gravity<\/strong>We think we're choosing, but sometimes I have the feeling that we're just going with the flow.
Robert \u2014<\/strong> It's a bit of a thought dizzying<\/strong>.
Laurent \u2014<\/strong> Dizzying, yes. But not necessarily. distressing<\/strong>. There is something consoling<\/strong> also. Knowing that everything does not depend on us is a way of lightening the weight of the fault<\/strong>.
Robert \u2014<\/strong> And to absolve our responsibilities errors<\/strong> ?
Laurent \u2014<\/strong> Not really. We're staying. responsible<\/strong> of the way, even if theissue<\/strong> escapes us. It is not because the END<\/strong> it is inevitable that the journey<\/strong> doesn't make sense.

Laurent \u2014<\/strong> Yes. It struck me too. It comes from the TV adaptation of Foundation<\/strong>, inspired by the novels by Isaac Asimov<\/strong>. Hari Seldon<\/strong> pronounces it, if I remember correctly.
Robert \u2014<\/strong> He is the one who predicts the fall of the Galactic Empire<\/strong>, No ?
Laurent \u2014<\/strong> Exactly. He invents a science<\/strong>, there psychohistory<\/strong>, which allows to model the behavior<\/strong> people on a large scale. He knows that theEmpire<\/strong> will collapse and that a dark ages<\/strong> is inevitable. But it builds a plan<\/strong>, a Foundation<\/strong>, to shorten the darkness<\/strong>. Not to avoid the fall<\/strong> \u2014 he knows that this is impossible \u2014 but to guide thehumanity<\/strong> through her.
Robert \u2014<\/strong> So he accepts theinevitable<\/strong> but seeks to soften it outline<\/strong>.
Laurent \u2014<\/strong> There you go. He doesn't deny the fate<\/strong>, he work<\/strong>. Like a sculptor<\/strong> with a rough stone<\/strong> : he cannot change matter, but he can orient the shapes<\/strong>. This is where the free will<\/strong>. He shapes the path<\/strong> which leads to theinevitable destiny<\/strong>.

I think that's what I like most about this idea<\/strong>.
