Mastering your skills writing language<\/strong> seems obvious to a writer. But is it as simple as it seems? An author's writing must be free of spelling, grammatical, and stylistic errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past, we relied on synonym dictionaries; today, Internet<\/strong> and theAI<\/strong> provide valuable services. When I mention theartificial intelligence<\/strong>, it is within the framework of the uses mentioned in another article and not for it to write for me. Believe it or not: when you read my texts, I hope you will recognize a style that is unique to me. An AI cannot reproduce my experience as a human being or the creativity that bubbles in my head. For the moment, AI has its limits. I will write a " ticket "<\/strong> on this subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ah, that's precisely the theme of this text. Without realizing it, while writing these lines, the word "post"<\/strong> came to mind spontaneously. And I realized that, recently, I had discovered another, more French way of replacing it: " ticket "<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We consume, we speak, we write "mails"<\/strong> with everyday words from other languages like English. They imposed themselves. I realized this while working on my manuscript. I was then confronted with another subject that I will address in the future ticket<\/strong> : the use of brand names in a story. The topic mainly concerned our phones, which we use for "surf"<\/strong> on the Internet, watching videos, listening to "podcasts"<\/strong>, check social networks, do calculations and, incidentally... make phone calls. I chose a neutral term so as not to mention any brands: "smartphone"<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then one day I realized that this word kept coming up throughout the pages. This bothered me because it has nothing French about it, even though I try to write as correctly as possible. I then realized that the same was true for other words of foreign origin. I hate the "cancel culture"<\/strong>, but I still wanted to find an alternative. I discovered that the official term is "smartphone"<\/strong> in French. It sounds pretty good, I think. So I replaced all the "smartphone"<\/strong> of my manuscript \u2014 over 1,000 pages to date \u2014 by "smartphone"<\/strong>. This was the beginning of a constant hunt for anglicisms<\/strong> to replace them with French equivalents. There are probably still some typos, but if so, it will be due to oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I'm not sure that my approach brings anything extra to the reader's discovery of my texts. I know what to say. " e-mail "<\/strong> rather than "mail"<\/strong> seems old-fashioned and does not help with reading fluency. But, in the absence of a more elegant alternative, I will stick with this word, not very happy, I admit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an aspiring writer with no published novels yet, I may be putting obstacles in my way. But I'm sticking to this discipline. Time will tell whether I was right or wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
